So here I am again, submitting a further animation test...
So After learning about moving layers I went back to the drawingboard. I figured I could move a very long layer with various details under the character over many frames and set to making one good enough.
The oval lighting was a little small so I had to expand it to see the extra detail of path and darkened longer grass etc.
Now, like with test2, test 3 WILL have overlayed details such as plants, bushes, a bunny that will scurry out of the way, a bird flying over head etc. Little things that will add feel... this is by no means a finish test.
What might surprise you all is that I have a long path image that has four broken path pieces on it, this animation just gets to the bottom of piece one and yet is ALREADY AT 80 FRAMES and this time, there are no repeated frames, each is unique. So... by the time I get to the end of the loop, expect it to be about 400-500 frames but also expect the finished upload to be a video format rather than a .gif as this alone is already at 1.5mb.
As you can see, there is detail in the background and it looks more natural. I removed the shadow from the sprite and added it as its own layer, it doesnt technically move with the sprite but as the ground moves under it, it looks somewhat dynamic.
PLEASE NOTE: I know this one doesnt loop yet. I have a LONG way to go to get to the end of the loop before I then start adding plants etc that fade in, pass and fade out. If you comment on this preview, please dont mention about it being cut off.
Like before, the ground moves every frame, the sprite moves every second frame.
Well. It's taken me a couple days to learn what I know now, plus a little experimenting to learn a whole new idea when it comes to mapping that could blow RPG mapping wide open if I progress down that path while doing this.
This animation is only the precursor to what I want to do with it. Eventually, once I have the ground looped (it will probably be and extra 400-500 frames longer than it is now) fully, I plan to do more with the character. He will change, others will enter and leave, there will be a short story.
But yeah, it's taken a little time. Thanks for noticing the effort I always appreciate it
did it happen every time, let it play 4 or 5 times... it's a 1.5mb file so might mess up the first few times. I know it doesnt loop, if you click the path in the description then look at the animation and line it up, you'll notice its nowhere near loopability yet XD
It worked. Because of you I tracked down a 3 pixel jump that could have potentially messed the whole thing up as I need each jump to be 4 pixels as a tile is 32 pixels
